Sheffield Wednesday would have observed last night’s relegation of their South Yorkshire rivals, Rotherham United.

Rotherham needed to pull a favour for the Owls by taking points away from Plymouth Argyle.

However, the Green Army triumphed 1-0 at the New York Stadium, moving up into 19th place and eliminating the drop zone by four points.

Sheffield Wednesday is currently three points out of safety and still in 23rd place.

After eight wins in a row, QPR is now up in 16th place, six points clear of the drop zone.

He has Josh Windass and Callum Paterson returning from injury and so we could see those two feature later on in the game, or maybe even from the off.

The pair have been quite sorely missed in recent weeks and Rohl will be hoping that both can hit the ground running ahead of the final six games of the season.

Elsewhere, Di’Shon Bernard looks touch-and-go to feature at Loftus Road.

What changes Rohl might make against QPR remains to be seen; as does whether or not he’ll change the shape.

The Owls need to find a way of being more formidable on the road, especially against good opponents, which right now is what QPR are.

But they could certainly do with an injection of pace and enthusiasm in the side, which a certain Joey Phuthi might be able to provide.

The 19-year-old Phuthi had success in the 2023–2024 season.

In addition to making his Sheffield Wednesday debut, he also made his Zimbabwean international debut.


Although he last played for the first team in the FA Cup in February, he has progressed through the Hillsborough ranks and has made one appearance in the Championship this season.

However, Phuthi recently gained attention after the following video of him playing for the development team surfaced:
