The Lions missed a bunch of chances against West Brom and Rotherham
Millwall could have taken six points from six against West Bromwich Albion and Rotherham United but missed crucial chances in both matches when the games were still in the balance.
Prior to the crucial match against Huddersfield Town today, Lions manager Harris stated: “It’s my job to try and give confidence.” And it’s our collective responsibility to look for ways to generate opportunities, whether it’s by making 37 passes in our penalty area, moving the ball up the pitch or getting a tap-in in the six-yard box. It doesn’t matter if it originates from a set play or a direct play. It’s about giving folks opportunities to score goals.
It doesn’t matter who scores the goals. But as any Millwall supporter who has spent enough time listening to me will know, I like my center-forward to score goals. We had opportunities the other day, and it’s my responsibility to help the players believe in themselves, support them, and schedule practices that would help them gain the confidence to put the ball in the net.
As a center-forward, I would be wondering, “Well, where’s my next chance coming from?” if I went three or four games without getting a chance. When opportunities arise while I’m playing games, I’m happy, but after that, it’s up to me to be clinical.
Zian Flemming is one of seven players for Harris who have started every game thus far. He had a few opportunities to score against Rotherham.
The Dutchman, who was Millwall’s top player the previous season, has not been as effective this time around but he is still a vital member of the Lions’ squad.
In his pregame press conference, the Lions manager stated, “First and foremost, he’s a really good man.” He is a man of genuine concern. He is an incredibly kind individual. His training temperament and qualities are also excellent.
He is very inquisitive and eager to learn and improve. He always puts a lot of effort into himself because he wants to perform at the highest level.
