SPFL boss responds to Hibs fears over ‘sporting integrity’after Kettlewell comment over Dundee issue
The three clubs stated above are vying for the final slot in the top half of the Premiership; should Hibs win in North Lanarkshire, they will surpass Dundee by two points. Tony Docherty’s team would lose at Aberdeen. The fact that Dundee’s contentiously postponed match against Rangers will now take place on Wednesday of next week has added another layer of complexity to the equation. The Dark Blues may already know exactly what is needed to qualify for the top six in that matchup.
But since managers have different attitudes, if you questioned Nick Montgomery at Hibs, it might be different from him. I’m not here to speak for him, but there are a few possible outcomes.
It’s quite easy if I apply it to my club and team. Our one opportunity is to prevail in the match and receive that favour [from previous games]. Everyone has heard that I have strong opinions on everything that has occurred over the past week or so.
“I would totally comprehend if Hibs is thinking that way because there are various implications and possible outcomes. From their manager’s perspective, it can occasionally impact substitutions or your actions throughout a game. Would one point suffice? For you, will victory suffice?
“I’m sure Nick Montgomery is bringing Hibs here to win a football game, but things can happen during a game that alter a manager’s perspective. I could appreciate the debates about whether it’s better to refer to it as sporting integrity or just the manager’s approach or strategy.
However, I want to be quite clear that it has no bearing on me. The players and I are both aware of our own responsibilities, and the only way we can give ourselves a chance is if we score three points. And while it could still not be sufficient, it is what we should focus on.
Kettlewell continued, referring to Hibs’ riches as she spoke about the game itself: “In terms of having one game to have
“I understand that some may argue that they haven’t performed well given their resources, and that may be true, but I think they’re a really strong team that is improving.”
