Fabrizio Romano has provided a transfer update regarding Wolves that could have impact at Southampton

According to Fabrizio Romano, Wolves are eager to bolster this particular area this summer.

Prior to the next transfer window, the Premier League team has been linked to a deal for Che Adams of Southampton.

The Saints thwarted a deadline-day deal by the Midlands team last year when they attempted to recruit the Scot.

The 27-year-old, who will become a free agency at the conclusion of the season, is reportedly still appealing to Gary O’Neil.

Leeds United is a rival of Wolves in the competition to recruit Adams, though.

Fabrizio Romano gives Wolves update concerning Che Adams

Romano has stated that Wolves would be focusing on strengthening their striker position this summer, which further suggests that they want to try to buy Adams.

According to the journalist, the Premier League team will be returning to the market this summer in an effort to increase their attacking alternatives, having failed in their January bid to recruit Armando Broja.

According to Romano, via Give Me Sport, “Wolves will go for a striker for sure.”

They feel compelled to do it and want to do it. We are aware of their application.

“They intended to sign Armando Broja, for instance, during the last few days of the January transfer window, but Fulham moved more quickly and had a better chance to agree to Chelsea’s loan terms.

“This is why the deal didn’t happen with Wolves.”

Adams has also been connected to moves to Crystal Palace and Everton in the past, but it’s unclear if either team will show further interest in the Scotland international this summer.

Adams’ contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the current season; if a new agreement can be reached with the Saints, he will become a free agent.

Leeds and Wolves are both very aware of this, and are considering his situation ahead of the transfer window opening.

Che Adams’ importance to Southampton

The attacker joined Southampton in 2019 after leaving Birmingham City for a £15 million transfer.

Adams has played in the Championship 36 times this season as a regular for Russell Martin’s team (all data courtesy of Fbref).

His goal total for the term now stands at 15, and he helped the team secure a crucial three points against Preston North End with a brace in midweek.

With a point more between them and the automatic promotion spots, that win brought the squad to within three points of Leeds in third place heading into the final few games of the season.

The fact that Southampton is still vying for automatic promotion could influence Adams’ decision about his future.

Adams is in a great position to decide his own fate.
Adams has been a very good card player, showing up for Southampton and talking the talk on the pitch.

Going into the summer, he will have several suitors, and they will all have to bargain with him directly rather than via the Saints to attempt and persuade him to play somewhere else.

Even while it’s becoming less probable that he’ll stay at St. Mary’s, only a promotion to the top flight would likely persuade him to change his mind.

Given O’Neil’s desire to strengthen his offence, Wolves would be a good choice; nevertheless, the more teams vying for his signing, the better the offer he will get.
