Mr Cue’s pool bar has opened in Birmingham Road in Sutton Coldfield in the former Lock, Stock and Barrel bar.

A new pool bar in Sutton Coldfield has opened, trying to attract both casual and experienced players with a variety of promotions. Mr Cue’s has opened on Birmingham Road in the former Lock, Stock and Barrel building, which was recently put on the market.

Mr Cue’s now has five and will soon have six pool tables after the proprietor saw a surge in interest from pool players waiting to utilise the original one. The proprietor went on to say: “We noticed people were queuing for an hour for the one pool table, so we got two more in, in the New Year and another two in recent weeks.”

The pub currently features three league tables and two slightly smaller ones for practice. It is scheduled to add a sixth in coming weeks. The large tables are priced £1 and the smaller ones £1.

On Sundays, the venue hosts ‘killer’ pool for free, with the first round starting at 2pm and the second at 5pm, with ‘cash prizes’. The only requirement for admittance is to purchase a drink. Killer pool is a game in which each player has three lives and must pot a ball during each visit to the table or lose one.
Mr Cue’s is also planning to form men’s and women’s pool teams to compete in local leagues beginning in June. In addition to pool, the establishment has a free jukebox on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, gaming machines, a fully stocked bar and sandwiches for those who need a snack.

Mr Cue’s new sign went up this week, and graffiti artist Nathan Smith is spray painting the interior walls. The new venue is marketed as ‘Sutton’s only pool bar’.

The new look pool bar now has a baize green painted front and is open from 12noon to 11pm Tuesdays to Thursdays and Sundays and 12noon until 12 midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
