A statement from Liverpool loanee enjoys wigan landmark career moment as his side win away to league leaders

Although some of the club’s players who are out on loan have not been without a goal, Liverpool has not scored from open play in their last four games.
Luke Chambers’ career reached a significant milestone on Saturday as his Wigan team upset League One champion Portsmouth 2-1 at Fratton Park, with Chambers scoring his first goal as a senior football player.

Midway through the first half, the left-back broke the tie when he gained control well inside the penalty area and gave himself one touch to put himself up.

then hammering the ball low into the far side of the Pompey net.

The Latics’ victory wasn’t very important because they are in the middle of the table and their opponents have already secured promotion, but it was a big turning point for the 19-year-old player who is on loan from Shaun Maloney, who has been getting a lot of playing time.
