Sam Tickle, the goalkeeper for Wigan Athletic, has been predicted by his former teammate Callum Lang to have a “amazing” career.
Wigan Athletic defeated the winger they sold in the January transfer window 2-1 on the road in Portsmouth.

At Fratton Park, Tickle, 22, attracted attention when Josh Magennis and Luke Chambers both scored goals.

Speaking after the game, Lang said, as per a report by The News (via Wigan Today): “I have played with Sam and he is a top keeper, he’s going to have an amazing career.

“At the minute they are playing with that freedom, they are safe, and when they do that they are a really good side.”

This season, Tickle has been the top player for Wigan Athletic, and he’s been playing well.

According to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon page, Sunderland was linked to a summertime swoop for him. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Latics fight for his services in the upcoming transfer window.

With a bright future ahead of him in the game, the England youth international has represented the Three Lions at the Under-21 level.

Since he has a contract with Wigan Athletic through June 2026, they won’t be under any pressure to trade him during the upcoming transfer window unless they receive an irresistible offer.

After his outstanding campaign, interest from higher up the football pyramid is bound to arise.

Tickle has made 51 appearances for Shaun Maloney’s team this season across all competitions, recording 17 clean sheets.

Before being released, he was registered with the Latics academy from 2012 to 2018. Before returning, the goalie competed in the Cheshire Football League for Pilkington.

In order to gain more experience, Tickle went on loan to Warrington Rylands and Nantwich Town in the non-league.

This Saturday, on the last day of the season, Wigan Athletic, who have won their past four games, will play Bristol Rovers at home.
