The former Black and Whites winger is expected to return to Hull FC.
Hull FC is reportedly negotiating a surprise move for Tom Briscoe, a former crowd favourite. The 34-year-old, who has been at Leigh Leopards for the past 18 months, is getting close to rejoining the team where he made his debut in 2008 as a teenager. The Black and Whites are negotiating a trade that will see a current player leave.
Darnell McIntosh, a 26-year-old winger who signed a three-year contract ahead of 2022, is thought to be that player. His contract expires at the end of the current campaign. Hull Live has learned that, with Briscoe and McIntosh taking season-long loans in different directions, all parties are now eager to complete the deal. After that, the changes will be permanent in 2025.
After missing time due to a calf injury, Briscoe is nearing the end of his rehabilitation and could make his club debut this weekend against Leeds Rhinos. Between 2008 and 2013, he made 147 appearances for Hull and scored 90 tries. Before joining the Rhinos ahead of the 2014 campaign, he played for England while at the club.
In the 2015 Challenge Cup final against Hull KR, he scored an incredible five tries, and at Leeds, he won two Challenge Cup and Super League titles. Along with Leigh, he won the cup again the previous season after scoring against Rovers in the championship game. He is getting close to 400 appearances and has scored over 200 tries in his career thus far.
Hull is working hard to bolster their team on three fronts in addition to Briscoe. With two quota spots to work with, Richie Myler, who played with Briscoe at Leeds, is open to additional loan agreements as well as domestic or foreign acquisitions. There have been inquiries made about deals throughout the Super League competition, and it is anticipated that more deals may close this week.
