Suspects made after shooting in York

Following the discovery of a dead buzzard in the North York Moors National Park, an investigation has been opened.

North of Helmsley, close to Laskill in Bilsdale, is where the alleged shooting took place.

According to a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police, “We’re appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious people or vehicles in the area to please come forward.” The buzzard is believed to have been killed on Thursday, April 4.

The Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981 provides legal protection for buzzards and all other preying birds.

“It is a crime to intentionally kill or injure someone; the punishment is up to six months in jail or an unlimited fine.”
