Drawing 2-2 with promotion-chasing Barnsley at Oakwell last week, a point was enough to secure mathematical survival when married up with results elsewhere in the third tier.

Uncertain when exiting the field in South Yorkshire, players and fans had little chance to celebrate together on the pitch, but the staff and players made sure to let their hair down on the trip back to Berkshire.

Selles revealed that the coach stopped for beers for the drive and defender Amadou Mbengue live-streamed celebrations on Instagram.

Selles disclosed that defender Amadou Mbengue live-streamed the festivities on Instagram, and the coach paused for a few beers before the journey.

Selles began, “The game ended, and we held the press conference.” “We didn’t record everything since we didn’t realise it was mathematical at the time, so the boys were waiting for me when I returned from speaking with their manager. They told me we were safe because they had to play together and everything. They were delighted and asked me to pause for a few beers on the way back, which was understandable.

The fans were particularly drawn to a particular scene in which Selles himself got up from his pizza to dance in the coach’s aisle, much to the glee of his teammates.

Selles grinned and stated, “They were dancing and at that exact moment, Amadou [Mbengue] approached me.” Not just me, but the rest of us also had a great time. That has evolved and is a part of the culture. We all had a great time, and it was nice to be a part of it.”
