Marc Gasol, a former NBA center and one of the franchise’s most decorated players, announced his retirement on Wednesday. He played 11 seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and was named the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year in 2012-13. Gasol’s defensive presence anchored Memphis during the “Grit-and-Grind” era, resulting in the team’s first playoff games and Western Conference playoff appearance.
