Morecambe FC issues Thought Provoking statement

The Club was expecting to pay its players and staff on  Friday 26th April 2024, ahead of the normal due date of the 28th of the month  which is today. We appreciate that, despite pay not yet being contractually due, there was an expectation that wages would be paid today ahead of the weekend. We also completely understand how frustrating, unsettling and demotivating that this issue is to our people, who work so hard every day.

The Owner has informed the Club on several occasions this week and throughout April that money will be available to pay salaries. Unfortunately, we are unable to pay salaries at this moment because we have not yet received this funding. However, we will keep trying our hardest to make this right before today.

We acknowledge the worries that several first team players have raised about playing tomorrow without receiving their compensation today due to the uncertainty. In any case, we’ll make sure a team plays in the Club’s last-ever match of the season at Swindon Town.

We are incredibly appreciative to the committed employees, athletes, and fans that never give up. The Board of Directors is fully aware of and concurs with the reasonable complaints being voiced by those who share our passion for the Club.
