Hull City goalkeeper handed boost as FA admit error striker collects award

Thimothee Lo-Tutala, the custodian for Hull City, has received a significant boost after the Football Association (FA) announced that it had reversed his dismissal on Saturday afternoon while he was playing for Doncaster Rovers. Lo-Tutala was found to have touched the ball outside of his penalty area and was thus denied a clear opportunity to score.

At Priestfield Stadium, Lo-Tutala was sent off early in the second half with Rovers leading 2-0 and on track to win the league for an unprecedented 11th time in a row and create a new club record. However, the Gills rallied for a 2-2 draw and denied Grant McCann’s team a piece of league history on the last day of the regular season.

Now available for Monday night’s play-off semi-final first leg at Crewe Alexandra (5:30pm), the City loan goalkeeper will help Rovers secure a spot in the championship game following an incredible run of performance that saw the South Yorkshire team rise from relegation candidates in January to fifth in the standings. Under McCann’s guidance, Lo-Tutala has appeared in 18 games since joining Rovers and has seven clean sheets.

“The goalkeeper was sent off for denying an obvious scoring opportunity by handling the ball outside of his area in their EFL League Two game against Gillingham on Saturday, 27 April,” the Football Association said in a statement.

In the meantime, Ryan Longman has been named Millwall’s Goal of the Season for his incredible goal that gave the

Lions a decisive 1-0 victory over Leicester City on April 9 at The Den.

Neil Harris, the team’s manager, has praised Longman for his speed as he ran down the left side before cutting in and putting an unstoppable shot into the upper corner. George Honeyman, a former star of City’s League One team, finished third in the fans’ vote for Player of the Year.
