New Indian restaurant opened in Kilmarnock

An ambitious plan to open an Indian restaurant in the heart of Kilmarnock has been revealed.

Blueprints have been lodged to open an eaterie and takeaway on King Street.

The property is currently occupied by vape shop, Bar Busters, and was recently the base for the Celebrate Kilmarnock group, which disbanded last year.

Now 85-89 King Street could be home to a new venture from applicant Sukdev Mall of Glasgow Developments Ltd.

If approved by East Ayrshire Council planners, it would be the only restaurant operating on King Street with the high street mainly filled with shops and cafes.

Drawings show space for 36 covers, the creation of a takeaway waiting area, a reception, two storage rooms, a cold store, a kitchen prep area and toilets at the rear of the property.

Kitchen blueprints give a hint at the variety of food being produced by the restaurant with plans to include a pizza oven, seekh kebab grill and fryers and a tandoori oven.

If approved, the new venture will be in fine company with Browne Munde on Princes Street and Exotic Kitchen and Jewel in the Crown on Portland Street.
