Another forgettable afternoon in Paisley, the Dons tasted defeat against St. Mirren after giving up twice in stoppage time.

Aberdeen is getting close to tying a bad club record for the most league games played without a win in its 121-year existence.

After a spectacular Connor Barron opener, Neil Warnock’s team tasted loss in Paisley when they gave up twice in stoppage time at St. Mirren. The Dons led until the 96th minute, when Mark O’Hara scored from the penalty spot. A minute later, Toyosi Olusanya gave Stephen Robinson’s team the victory, setting off wild celebrations both on the ground and in the fans. This was Aberdeen’s TENTH Premiership match without a victory; their previous league victory came at Ross County two days into the New Year.

They are now just two games away from matching the 25-year-old club record of 12 league games played without a victory. After Paul Hegarty left the team for the final three games of the 1998–1999 season, the Dons went twelve games without winning a league game. The next season, under the late Danish manager Ebbe Skovdahl, they went nine games without winning.
This terrible run began in May 1999, when Robbie Winters’ goal gave them a 1-0 victory over St Johnstone, and ended in late October, when they defeated Motherwell 6-5 at Fir Park in one of the most memorable games in Scottish football history, featuring 11 goals given up by two legendary Scotland goalkeepers, Jim Leighton and Andy Goram.

Aberdeen will match the record if, following their Scottish Cup quarterfinal match against Kilmarnock, they lose their next two league games away to Motherwell and Dundee. And after that, they will create a new record if they can’t defeat Ross County, another team fighting for relegation. The longest victory run Aberdeen has had in all competitions is 15 games, which dates back to 1952.
