Aberdeen FC major managerial takeover contender falls.

It is improbable that Jimmy Thelin, a Swede, will take over as Aberdeen manager in the near future.

The Elfsborg manager appeared to impress club executives, and he was strongly tipped to take over at Pittodrie. The 46-year-old was interviewed for the position during the previous season when the team had a vacancy, but Barry Robson did well enough in his interim role to be given the permanent job.

Thelin was connected to the Sunderland position earlier this year, but he later resurfaced as a possibility for the Dons. It has been anticipated that Thelin may leave Sweden to advance his career. Not only did the club know him, but the German experts who have been brought in to assist with recruitment have also apparently ‘marked him up’.

However, according to the Scottish Sun, he is expected to remain with his present team in the near future, as their season is scheduled to begin next month.

Mark Fotheringham, Neil Lennon, and Michael O’Neill are other names that are being considered for Aberdeen.

Even though the Dons defeated St Johnstone last weekend, they might still finish up in the relegation playoffs. Following the international break, they will take on the Staggies, sitting just three points ahead of Ross County in 11th place.

By then, a new manager ought to be in place, and it is hoped that the process would be finished during the break between games.
