Following the admission by former Celtic and Hibs manager Neil Lennon that he was interested in the Pittodrie position, Aberdeen manager Neil Warnock has stated that he is not bothered by rumours over his future.

Warnock, who was taken in on an interim basis when Barry Robson left the Dons, is still seeking his first-ever Scottish Premiership victory.

The club’s decline from a top six position and impending relegation struggle make this weekend’s Scottish Cup matchup against Kilmarnock seem imperative for the seasoned boss.

As a result, there has been conjecture regarding his potential successor, and Lennon was ready to put himself forward as he looks to return to management, according to Football Scotland.

As previously mentioned, Lennon stated: “I would definitely be interested in the Aberdeen position, timing is everything. That has a lot of promise.

I was connected to it last month, but I couldn’t really take it on because I was still working on the Ireland role at the time.

While I’m appreciative of the occasional punditry gig I do, it’s not what I want to do. I think I still have a lot to provide as a coach.

The 75-year-old Warnock has drawn special fire from Willie Miller, an Aberdeen icon turned pundit.

In response to a question concerning Lennon’s remarks, he said, “Willie Miller serve as his assistant? I don’t remark on such matters.

Whoever is inside wouldn’t disturb me at all if I weren’t here. Are you with me?

Really, that’s life and management. At a couple of my employment, I was employed there for two months before I departed.

At Middlesbrough, I was aware of who was entering. That may not be the most kind thing to say, but that’s football, you have to move on.
