The 19-year-old is heading to Villa Park.
Rangers were among the clubs interested in signing Arsenal’s left-back Lino Sousa, but he now appears to be headed to Aston Villa, according to reports.
The Portugal-born teenager is likely to make a permanent move to Villa Park and will reportedly have his medical today. However, the 19-year-old had previously shown interest in a number of clubs, including Rangers, Galatasaray, and Juventus, according to Fabrizio Romano.
When Sousa was eight years old, his family relocated to England from Portugal, and he attended West Brom’s academy before joining Arsenal at the age of 17. Despite impressing in the younger teams, he has never appeared for Arsenal’s first team, but he has been capped by England’s under-19s.
The Light Blues have been hunting for a left-back this transfer window and want to complete a move for Brazilian Jefte before the deadline. The 20-year-old is currently on loan at APOEL from Fluminense, but an agreement in principle is in place to bring him to Ibrox permanently.
Philippe Clement is also close to signing Colombian winger Oscar Cortes on loan from Lens, and he arrived in Glasgow today to finalise the deal.
