According to the Daily Record, Arsenal are tracking Aberdeen academy player Fletcher Boyd.
Arsenal and another Premier League club Aston Villa are reportedly interested in the 16-year-old.
Arsenal has an outstanding academy, with numerous top players rising through the ranks at Hale End in recent seasons.
Meanwhile, Boyd is regarded as one of Cormack Park’s best players, according to the Scottish outlet.
He signed a full-time contract with Aberdeen and was promoted to the Dons Under-18s last summer.
Arsenal target Fletcher Boyd makes a fantastic ‘effect in the final third’.
The official club website profiled Boyd and the other players who joined the U18s Development Group ahead of the 2023/24 season.
‘He is a player who has consistently played up one or two age groups during his tenure at the Academy,’ they added.
‘He can play up front or as an offensive midfielder, and he is incredibly quick, so he can be productive in both wide areas and through the middle. It is his contribution in the closing third that is crucial.
‘Fletcher is very powerful technically, and if he continues to improve other aspects of his game in the full-time setting, he could have a very bright career ahead of him.
Arsenal’s Hale End academy has produced numerous excellent performers over the years.
Obviously, Bukayo Saka is the outstanding player, now a superstar for Arsenal and England, but there are others who are on the Gunners’ roster or have successful professional careers abroad.
Boyd appears to be a strong prospect for the Arsenal academy, so let’s see whether the Gunners can pique his interest and persuade him to join with the promise of a clear path to the first team.
