Jurrien Timber’s knee injury following his debut Premier League game for Arsenal was one of the worst blows this season.

Pre-season and Arsenal’s Community Shield triumph against Manchester City showed promise for the 22-year-old, but that first game win over Nottingham Forest ended it.

Jurrien Timber has shown promise in the treatment room in recent weeks, with Mikel Arteta saying there is a ‘realistic’ chance he will play again before May’s final ball.

The Arsenal manager gives hope, but Ian Wright told Premier League Productions (05/02/24 at 2:30 pm) that the versatile defender won’t return in time.

After the Gunners beat Liverpool 3-1 on Sunday, the former Highbury hero discussed Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, and Takehiro Tomiyasu returning in the coming weeks.

The faster these players return, the better for the club’s Premier League title chances.

Jurrien Timber may blow off the roof, but Ian Wright isn’t sure.

Jurrien Timber is hurt.
Wright added, “There is Jesus (to return from injury).” Maybe Thomas Partey.

“I doubt Timber will return in time. Tomiyasu. Considering what we have and those players, we’re probably where we are.”

Jurrien Timber’s absence
Although early indicators, the £38 million signing’s ability to play across the backline, notably as an inverted fullback, was crucial for Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal fans knew that before he entered the building, and he showed such indicators in pre-season.

Arsenal are two points behind Liverpool in the table, and Timber in the XI may have helped them significantly!

However, Mohamed Salah is sidelined for Liverpool and Kevin de Bruyne has missed half a season for Manchester City.

Thus, all top teams can complain about injuries; it’s only which ones react best.
