ATLÉTICO MADRID OFFER LONG-TERM CONTRACT TO WALTER BENÍTEZ

The decision-makers of Atlético Madrid, a dominant team in La Liga, have begun negotiations to bring in a new goalie.
Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano says Walter Benítez is the player in question and says as much.

The 31-year-old Argentine international Benítez is now playing club football for PSV Eindhoven, one of the biggest teams in the Netherlands.
The goalkeeper started all but one of PSV’s league games from the starting position and gave up just 21 goals while playing a crucial part in his team’s recent Eredivisie victory.

And apparently, the Atlético Madrid brass was not in the least bit impressed by such achievements.

Amidst persistent ambiguity about Joan Oblak’s future in the Spanish capital, Atléti is said to have initiated discussions with PSV and Benítez concerning a summer transfer.

Furthermore, the Rojiblancos have even gone so far as to provide the Argentine with a “long-term” contract offer.
After drawing the conclusion that Diego Simeone and company “believe in Benítez” as their possible future No. 1, Fabrizio Romano says as much.
