The United boss reckons Bryden is leading by example despite his inexperience.
Scott Brown hailed Highland hero Fraser Bryden for setting the tone at Ayr United.
The teenage striker landed the killer blow for the Honest Men as they brought the points back down the A9 on Saturday. And Brown insists that Bryden – who recently signed a new Somerset contract – is a shining example to all around him in the dressing room.
“Every day, Fraser comes into work with a smile on his face,” Brown stated to the Ayrshire Post. His passion for the club is evident, and these are the kind of people you want in your changing room. People are contagious with his excitement.
Everyone can see how motivated and hardworking he is, and he is equally eager to go backward as forward. I was thrilled to see him score the goal; the next stage is to incorporate more of that into his play. He enjoys getting in between the posts and is an instinctive goal scorer.
Brown was gushing about how his team overcame the shocking penalty that nearly put their victory in Inverness at jeopardy. At the end of the first half, United was taken aback when referee Iain Snedden gave a penalty kick for what appeared to be a foul by Harry McHugh on Billy Mckay. After the break, Bryden won it for the Honest Men, bringing Caley back into the match at 1-1.
Brown said: “I’ve no idea what the ref saw for the penalty, he seemed convinced it was a stonewaller. There was no contact whatsoever and the ref couldn’t wait to blow his whistle. But the boys showed great spirit to dig in and come back from that. When your character is tested like that, it’s great to come up with the response.
Credit to the lads because they did that at a tough venue on Saturday. The league is so tight and we know the margins are very fine – we’re four points from either play-off. It’s about keeping going from here because we’ll face more tests like Saturday between now and the end of the season
