He has been the interim manager at Pittodrie since Neil Warnock departed

Barnsley is apparently looking at Peter Leven as a potential future manager.

The Tykes are considering their alternatives in an attempt to replace Neill Collins, who was fired earlier this week, and have put the temporary manager of Aberdeen on their shortlist. The team chose to fire Collins at this late date, adding to the pressure on themselves even if they are in the playoff spots. Since Neil Warnock resigned, Leven has taken charge at Pittodrie, and he has impressed with a few respectable outings, most notably against Celtic in the Scottish Cup semifinal this past weekend.

According to the Daily Record, Oakwell is interested in the 40-year-old coach because of his prior experience working with Middlesbrough’s academy down south.

The connection is made right before Jimmy Thelin, the summertime replacement gaffer, travels from Elfsborg.

The Swede had hoped to be part of Leven’s backroom team, but a move to Barnsley would mean it would no longer be possible, and the manager would have to find an assistant coach of his own.
