The Reds lost back-to-back games on the road for the first time this season in their inaugural encounter at the Hertfordshire stadium.

For the last time they dropped two straight league games, you also have to go back to mid-August.

Oakwell, who are currently ranked fifth, are now tasked with playing themselves back into form ahead of potential play-off participation as their prospects of finishing in the top two have faded in recent weeks.

With four games remaining in the regular season, Barnsley, who have only won twice in their last eight games, are six points ahead of Lincoln City, a team that is now barely outside of the top six.

Collins, whose team hosts Reading on Saturday, responded, “I am just concerned about winning the next game,” when asked if he is concerned about his team’s dismal recent results.

Since the third or fourth game of the season, it is the first time we have lost consecutive games.

“The players have shown a great deal of resiliency overall. We were aware that visiting this place is normally somewhat difficult and that it’s a “50-50” proposition.

“I believe it’s simply these tiny margins, so we just need to focus on turning them back in our favour.
“People may earn more money than they actually do, and some of the most recent outcomes have disappointed us. However, I don’t believe it will take much to make a difference.

With his second goal in as many games and his ninth of the season, Adam Phillips lofted a shot to put the visitors ahead. However, as halftime drew near, Jamie Reid equalised, and Dan Butler sealed the win with a strong free kick to increase Stevenage’s slim prospects of making the playoffs.
Collins went on, “I think Stevenage were really on top for the first 20 minutes of the second half and really put us on the ropes, so we couldn’t get out.”

“It stemmed from set-piece after set-piece, which we know they excel at. It wasn’t very tactical in nature; rather, it was primarily about attempting to move the ball out and handle duel after duel because to their large, powerful frames.

“We really carved them open at times in the first half, and we should have been ahead by a bigger margin,” the author said. Going into the half level was a bit of a blow since, over the last thirty minutes of the half, I believe we were the team to add (more goals) after a couple of early scares.

“But we just lacked that finishing touch.”
