Jordan Williams, the captain of BARNSLEY, has become a top target for Championship newcomers Portsmouth; but, he will have competition from teams like Cardiff City.
Williams decided to leave Oakwell at the end of his current contract, and he did so recently.

Herbie Kane, Nicky Cadden, and Devante Cole—all important players—are all leaving for new pastures.

Williams, a former player for Huddersfield Town, has been a consistent member of the Barnsley lineup for a number of seasons since joining the Reds in August 2018.

After Joe Rafferty left for Rotherham United, Pompey saw right back as a priority area, and the team elected not to exercise their option on Zak Swanson.
Pompey sees Williams, a 24-year-old with a plenty of Championship-level experience, as a solid alternative.

Before the summer transfer market officially opens on Friday, Williams, who has previously shown interest in Preston North End, is also reportedly of interest to Cardiff.

On the incoming front, Barnsley are chasing several targets after making their first breakthrough of the close season with the capture of former captain Conor Hourihane as head coach.
