Callum discusses his preferred position when asked about his Sunderland future his loan transfer from Barnsley.

In light of Dan Neil’s injury setback, is hoping to start in midfield; he has not yet had talks over his future at Sunderland.

The 24-year-old joined the Black Cats in January after leaving Barnsley on a temporary loan, with the possibility of a permanent deal this summer with Sunderland. When Styles arrived to Wearside, he was already recuperating from an appendix removal surgery, and he didn’t play for the team until late February.

Styles remarked of his first few months at Sunderland, “It’s been tough.” “There were a lot of injuries and absent players when I first arrived. The players sustained injuries and the manager was replaced, so there was just a lot of chop and change. Although the journey hasn’t always been easy, our team is plenty of talent as we look ahead to the upcoming campaign.
When asked if he had discussed his future with anyone, Styles said, “I haven’t had any discussions.” I’m simply thinking about football; the rest of us can talk about it.
At Barnsley, Styles was primarily used as a midfielder, although he has also been used as a left back and left wing back at Sunderland. When the Black Cats switched up their lineup against West Brom and Millwall, the Hungarian international moved into midfield. Dan Neil’s season-ending injury might also open up another spot in the team’s engine room.

Styles remarked of his various roles, “I think I can deal with it very well.” Throughout my career, I’ve done it a couple times. I am capable of handling all the tactical issues as well as those that other players can handle differently.”

In response to a question about whether he intends to see more time in midfield after Neil’s injury, Styles said, “I hope so.” That, in my opinion, is the discussion that has to take place. We’ll find out when Saturday arrives.

“He’s a great player, but he’s injured. We just need to play the remaining two games.” The team is full of talented people.

With two Championship games left this season, Sunderland is getting ready for their trip to Watford on Saturday under Mike Dodds’ leadership. On the last day of the season, Sheffield Wednesday will visit the Black Cats.
