This summer, Sunderland has the opportunity to sign Callum Styles of Barnsley on a permanent move.
Callum Styles has announced that, despite a little injury setback, he will represent Hungary at the European Championships this summer.
This summer, Sunderland will have the opportunity to permanently purchase the 24-year-old from Barnsley. During the 2023–24 season, he made 12 Championship appearances for the Black Cats while on loan.
The versatile midfielder was named in Hungary’s 26-man squad for the Euros last month after playing 22 times for the team, earning him the right to represent the nation where his mother was born. Last week, during a friendly match against Israel, Styles sustained an injury that forced him to be substituted, but he has allayed fears ahead of the competition.
Styles shared the following on Instagram: “Well-prepared. Fortunately, the wound is not severe. I’ll see you in Germany. Hungary, go.
Hungary’s opening game is scheduled on Saturday, June 17, against Switzerland. The country is in Group A with hosts Germany, Scotland, and Hungary.
Styles has frequently featured in centre midfield for Hungary, despite spending the majority of his time playing as a full-back or wing-back for Sunderland. In the May edition of FourFourTwo, the 24-year-old was questioned regarding his goals for his club and his time on Wearside. It’s been difficult; we’ve had two managers this season,” he retorted. However, after nine or ten games, I began to enjoy myself, and the fans are incredibly ardent. It’s an elite club.

He responded, “I haven’t really thought about it, as I’ve been focusing on playing,” when asked about his future and what comes next. I would love to remain longer since Sunderland wants to make the Premier League, but a lot of things could go wrong. We’ll see.
“All I want to do at the Euros is play a few minutes. The primary goal is to leave the group since that’s when the real games begin.
