Barrow Raiders have agreed a dual registration partnership with Wigan Warriors for the 2024 season.
The Warriors mutually ended their agreement with Wakefield Trinity earlier this month, which allows the club to agree a new partnership.
Some of Wigan’s transition players will have the chance to play competitive rugby league and obtain regular, valuable first team experience thanks to the partnership with the Championship club, which will aid in their development.
Players from Wigan will continue to be registered with both the Warriors and Barrow as per the agreement between the two clubs.
A Wigan player who registers with Barrow on a dual registration basis will be able to practise and play for both teams.
The player is not allowed to play twice for Barrow and Wigan in the same weekend and is only allowed to participate in one match per scheduled round of games in any given week.
“We are really looking forward to working with Paul Crarey and his staff, and we are grateful to Andy Gaffney at Barrow for his work on the agreement,” stated John Diffy, Wigan’s transition coach.
“Paul and his team at Barrow are a very trustworthy and well-run club, and they always take great care of our players.”
“We’re excited to watch some of our transition players grow and improve as a result of this agreement.”
“Our head coach Paul Crarey has maintained a great relationship with Wigan’s head coach Matt Peet and reserves coach John Duffy,” a Barrow official stated.
“Wigan has given our club and coaching staff incredible support during injury times by entrusting some of their most talented young players.”
The Wigan players have expressed their satisfaction with Barrow, saying they have had a great time, and they feel that they and their families have received excellent care.
