A man has been charged with the murder of a woman who was discovered dead at a Lancashire home and is scheduled to appear in court. Around 2:30 am on Tuesday morning, police were called to a residence on Congress Street in Chorley in connection with a “sudden death.”
The body was discovered by responding officers and is now identified as that of Fiona Robinson, 37. Last year, she moved from Barrow-in-Furness to Chorley, according to Lancashire Police.
According to the results of a post-mortem conducted by the Home Office, Ms. Robinson passed away due to “multiple injuries.” According to the force, her family has been notified and is receiving assistance from specially trained cops.
A man was arrested at the scene and this evening 26-year-old Jason Gowen, of Congress Street, Chorley, has been charged with murder they added. He is due to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday
Detectives say their investgation is ongoing and they are now appealing for anyone with information that may assist their enquiries to come forward.
DCI Mark Haworth-Oates, of Lancashire Police’s Major Investigation Team, said: “First and foremost our thoughts are with Fiona’s loved ones, who are going through unimaginable pain.
“We are determined to provide answers for them and although we have charged someone our investigation is ongoing.
