According to Birmingham Live, Birmingham City is getting close to signing striker Lukas Jutkiewicz to a new deal.
Although Birmingham City is destined for League One, there is still a lot of hope for their future.

After a few difficult years in the Championship, it is hoped that their fall to third place is only a temporary setback on their road back to a higher level under their new ownership.

One of the players who has been there for the whole time is Lukas Jutkiewicz, a seasoned striker. But with his contract expiring this summer and the date getting closer, doubts have been raised about his future.

However, according to Birmingham Live, Jutkiewicz and Birmingham City are getting closer to reaching a deal. The duration of the deal is unknown, but Chris Davies will benefit greatly from it.

Although the 35-year-old Jutkiewicz’s goal effect may have decreased, his leadership and expertise are invaluable and may be crucial to their effort to win the championship again.

Keeping Jutkiewicz on board will be a nice bonus for everyone at St. Andrew’s, as he is a crucial leader in the squad and a firm favourite among Birmingham City supporters.

A person with his background will be useful during this crucial time. The striker has shown himself at many teams, although he has spent a significant portion of his career with the Blues, having made 330 appearances.

He has led the squad on several occasions over that period, recording 66 goals and 27 assists.

Despite Jutkiewicz’s little League One experience, he has played 473 times in the Championship, so it’s possible that a return to the Championship will allow him to resume his excellent goal-scoring form and solidify his position as a second-tier mainstay.

Maintaining Jutkiewicz will give the recruitment team one less player to seek in a position that can be difficult to bolster for Birmingham City, who already need additional options up top.

But there’s no denying that this summer’s new manager, Davies, will be eager to bring a true star into the team. Tyler Roberts and Jutkiewicz both have the potential to improve with a return to League One.

Nonetheless, you would expect that at least one striker is on the shopping list given that Scott Hogan has moved on and Jay Stansfield’s loan has ended.

It will take time to determine who that is, but if Jutkiewicz does decide to sign a new deal, they might have to fight for a starting position.
