Football Insider has been informed by sources that Birmingham City has begun negotiations to sign Dan Scarr, a defender for Plymouth Argyle.

Birmingham, who were demoted to League One the previous season, are looking to add a new center-back this summer.
Scarr’s contract at Home Park expires in the summer of 2025, so the West Midlands club should be able to afford him.
The 29-year-old, who assisted Plymouth in securing their spot in the second division for an additional year last season, is a seasoned, battle-hardened Championship defender.

Scarr moved from non-league Stourbridge to accept a contract with Birmingham seven years ago.

The centre back, who was born in Worcestershire, played for St Andrew’s for two seasons, however he only made one senior appearance.
Scarr played 96 times for Walsall over the course of the following two seasons after signing a permanent contract in January 2019 following a loan stint with Wycombe Wanderers.

The defender was acquired by Plymouth in the summer of 2021, and during the following three seasons, he established himself as a key member of their defence.

As Scarr approaches the last year of his Home Park deal, Birmingham has now started negotiations with Plymouth about re-signing him.

After being relegated last season, the West Midlands team is getting ready for life in League One under new boss Chris Davies.

In other news, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Manchester United are vying for the Birmingham sensation.
