A father of two who was beaten to death on the doorstep of his city house by two men has been found guilty.

In October 2022, 36-year-old Ali Salih Abdalaah died in a Ladywood, Birmingham, hallway of Brecon Tower on Guild Close.

Following a three-week trial at Birmingham Crown Court, 32-year-old Dale Berry-Parkes of Birmingham was found guilty of manslaughter.

During the trial, another Birmingham resident, Hardi Hamad, 35, entered a guilty plea to manslaughter with diminished responsibility.

On October 8, 2022, at around 6.20 a.m., Ali had gone to a store on Soho Road and then met a woman, whom he brought back to his apartment.

At roughly nine in the morning, the woman called Hamad and Berry-Parkes and reported being sexually assaulted.

Then the two men appeared in front of Ali’s door and attacked him fatally.

CCTV footage captures Berry-Parkes throwing a set of car keys to Hamad, which belonged to their victim’s red Kia, as they leave the flat building.

The Peugeot they had come in and Ali’s stolen vehicle made a convoy exit together.

Both of the cars were found with fictitious plates a few days later.

On October 12, Hamad and Berry-Parkes turned themselves in at a police station and were taken into custody.

At a later time, Birmingham Crown Court will sentence them both.

Ali’s relatives paid tribute to him by saying, “Ali was a very joyful, kind, and hardworking man.

“He was a devoted parent who lived his entire life for his kids. He enjoyed working in the community and lending a hand to people who were not as wealthy as he was.

“Our way of life has been upended. We are all heartbroken by his passing, which has permanently altered the lives of our children, especially his young children and our community.

The murder was characterised as a “horrific, senseless attack” by Det Ch Insp Laura Harrison of the West Midlands Police Homicide Unit.

Ms. Harrison went on, “Because of the heinous deeds of Hamad and Berry-Parkes, two children are now fatherless.

“I’m hoping that this conviction will help Ali’s family find some peace after their terrible loss. We’re still thinking of them.
