Barnsley manager Neill Collins believes his team is capable of beating anyone and will be looking for a response against Blackpool this weekend.
Collins takes his Barnsley side to Bloomfield Road for their penultimate game of the season, which is a crucial meeting in the race for the playoffs. Blackpool are still in with a chance to prolong their season into May, but this is a must-win game for Neil Critchley’s side.
The visitors come into the game after losing 3-2 to Portsmouth on Tuesday night. Devante Cole and John McAtee twice gave Yorkshire the lead, but the league leaders rallied and finally won the game to claim the League One title.
Barnsley’s form has dipped at the wrong time in the season. They have lost their last four games and earned only one point out of a potential twelve. Collins’ team has only won twice in ten games, and they will be hoping to get back on track this weekend.
Collins told the Yorkshire Post: “For me, the players have proved over the previous six or seven months that they can beat anyone on their day and are a match for anyone, which should give them a lot of confidence.
“I wish they had points to show for it; that will be the challenging part. We need to dust ourselves off.
“We assumed we’d get them based on how the game was going. But they should say, “Right, we need to get it right on Saturday.”
