Simon Grayson is hoping to wrap up a deal for Derby County youngster Callum MacDonald this week, as he suggested in an interview with Matt Scrafton of the Blackpool Gazette.

After five games, the Seasiders have not lost and are now tied for first place in League One with five other teams. Under new manager Grayson, they’ve already established a fast pace upon rejoining the team for the second time.
After consecutive draws with Gillingham and Rochdale, he is eager to bolster his squad and acknowledged to Scrafton that he knew the 21-year-old.

“I’ve looked at and am aware of him as a player,” he said to The Gazette.

You already know that I try to stay out of the public eye, but I still want to add quality players to the football team. It will be done if that one occurs because he is a skilled football player.

While on loan with non-League Barrow, he was successful, making 21 appearances and scoring one goal. As a result, he frequently saw time on the senior team’s bench.

In October 2016, Macdonald, who is also a Scotland Under-21 international, made his debut. Although his primary position is left back, he can also play in midfield.

The Gazette anticipates that the agreement will be signed early next week.
