Jordan Rhodes, the leading goal scorer for Blackpool this season, cites one important element as giving him more “pride” and “fulfilment” during his stay in Tangerine.
The Huddersfield Town striker, who is now on loan, looked impressive in the first half of the season, scoring 15 goals in League One. However, he has suffered setbacks this year. The 34-year-old went down holding his knee in the first half of the Seasiders’ match against Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium ahead of the international break, after missing a month of action due to a rib issue. The full nature of the injury is still unknown.
Rhodes has played for many teams since making his professional debut in 2007, including Middlesbrough, Sheffield Wednesday, and Blackburn Rovers. However, he acknowledges that the fact that his closest friends and family have been involved with the club gives his time at Bloomfield Road a unique quality.
He declared, “This season has been one of my best in terms of form in my career.”
“At this point in my career, having three children of my own, it’s good to have my family support Blackpool at home games, wear the team uniforms, and make me smile every time I step onto the field. Having them at the games makes me feel really proud and fulfilled because I like seeing them just as much as I enjoy playing.
“So far, I’ve had fun at Blackpool.” This bunch of guys is fantastic, and the coaching team is top-notch. I have nothing but praise for the way the family-run club has treated me, and I have no doubt that the players would feel the same way about their experiences. The team spirit has been present from the beginning.
