The operation was launched following ‘intelligence from the public’

After homes and a business in Bolton were raided, two men were taken into custody on suspicion of money laundering.

Following “intelligence from the public,” Greater Manchester Police began the operation. There were maybe forty cops present.

Three raids were conducted by Bolton police yesterday, April 16, at two residences and one commercial location in the communities of Farnworth and Great Lever. They took cash and two cars.

Two individuals, ages 27 and 39, were taken into custody on charges related to money laundering. A GMP spokeswoman claimed that they have since been freed on bond while more investigations are conducted.

“The operation has taken around a month to put together and involved over 40 officers from across Greater Manchester Police,” said Keiron Maddocks, the neighbourhood inspector. The information that the public and people of our community provide, for which we are incredibly appreciative, serves as the foundation.

We can’t take the action that we did this week without the support of the larger community as well as GMP. It takes a team effort. We will always respond to public information, albeit it might not happen right away because it takes time to plan and build action to be taken.

“You can report information to GMP by calling 101, chatting with us on LiveChat at www.gmp.police.uk, or by going straight to your local policing unit. Crimestoppers can also be reached anonymously at 0800 555 11, although in case of an emergency, always phone 999.”
