Charlie Taylor, a Burnley native and former Leeds United defender, is allegedly close to joining Southampton.
The 30-year-old joined the Leeds team’s senior squad and made 104 appearances after graduating from the academy. In 2017, he moved to Burnley in the Premier League, leaving under cloud nine.

But after working at Turf Moor for seven years, it seems like his days as a Claret are running out. When his contract expires, he will join Southampton, according to Sky Sports.

His future has been uncertain for a while; last summer, he was even rumoured to be returning to Leeds. He stayed at Burnley and made 28 appearances as the Clarets were relegated from the Premier League, but a return did not happen.

Southampton won the Championship play-off final against Leeds to reclaim their place in the division, while Burnley was relegated to the lower leagues. It is now said that they have an agreement to get Taylor on board.

Taylor is well-known throughout Yorkshire in addition to Elland Road, where he was on loan at Bradford City and York City. Taylor, a left-back with a wealth of experience, has played in the Premier League for six seasons and won championships.

Taylor stated earlier this year, when speaking about his future with the Burnley Express: “I’m just happy to be playing now every week. At the start of the season I wasn’t playing.”

“I’m just delighted to be playing every week; I’m not really thinking ahead to anything after the summer. In addition to enjoying my football, I’m working hard to advance this team in the standings and keep us out of trouble.
