Due to a multi-vehicle incident, a sizable portion of the A34 in northern Hampshire, close to Newbury, has been blocked in both directions. Emergency personnel and police are present.
The following was shared on social media by the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary: “We are now handling a significant accident on the A34 at Wash Water. Right now, both the northbound and southbound carriageways are closed. Please take other routes.
According to Hampshire County Council Traffic and Travel, “A34 – is CLOSED in both directions at A343 Andover Rd due to a multi vehicle RTI, severe delays in both directions,” there are delays on other routes.
“Road closed, severe delays and queueing traffic due to multi-vehicle crash on A34 both ways from B4640 to A4 Bath Road,” according to AA traffic news.
