Alan Nixon claims in a report on his Patreon page that the 28-year-old’s performance in the Championship has made him a wanted man.

Despite Rovers’ struggles and their near-bottom position in the second tier table, Szmodics has emerged as one of the league’s most impressive attacking players this year.

With three assists and twenty-one goals in the Championship thus far this season, he leads the division in scoring.

Szmodics’ contract expires in the summer of 2026, but given Rovers’ relegation fight and the Venkys’ ongoing difficulties funding the team from India, it might be necessary to cash in this summer.

The most recent transfer of Sammie Szmodics is between Brentford and Luton Town.

Prior to the summer transfer window, Brentford, a Premier League team, is reportedly keeping an eye on the Blackburn striker.

Luton Town will undoubtedly present a challenge to the Bees, but the Hatters are holding off on making any firm offers for the attacker until their league position for the following season is determined.

Szmodics is now one of Brentford’s main targets for the next summer market after they sent one of their best scouts, Mick Priest, to keep a closer eye on him.

Josh Sargent, the American forward in form for Norwich City, is also being examined as a possible possibility as the London team looks to bolster their offensive options for the upcoming campaign.

Ivan Toney is a squad staple, and it’s becoming more and more probable that he’ll go at the end of the current season. That means the team will need to find a successor, even though Igor Thiago is already on the way from Club Brugge.

Toney’s contract expires in 2025, but Brentford is expected to take advantage of any potential interest this summer in order to prevent losing him for nothing.

Considering that he only scored five goals in the Championship during his first season at Ewood Park last year, Szmodics has been one of the season’s shocks.

In the summer transfer window of 2022, the 28-year-old moved from Peterborough United in a reported £1.8 million deal.

The transfer interest in Sammie Szmodic shouldn’t be shocking to Blackburn Rovers.

Given his stellar Rovers campaign, it’s hardly surprising that Szmodics is drawing interest from transfer teams.

While joining Brentford may be an intriguing challenge, moving to the Premier League would be a significant step forward.

Considering Toney’s significance to Thomas Frank’s team, it would be difficult to replace him, although Brazilian hitman Thiago would be a better fit.

Given that Szmodics may cost between £8 and $12 million, or even less if Rovers are demoted to League One, he could be a very good option for a team like Brentford. It will be fascinating to see what kind of sum Blackburn demand in any prospective pursuit of Szmodics.
