Baggott joined Rovers on loan from Ipswich in the January transfer window until the end of the 2023/24 campaign. The centre-back struggled to break into the Gas’ starting lineup initially and was subbed off after just 28 minutes in Rovers’ 3-2 comeback win at Stevenage in February.

After losing to Stevenage, the Indonesian international bounced back with a five-match winning streak in late February and early March. But Baggott’s streak came to a stop in the middle of March when a calf issue kept him from competing.

The 21-year-old missed four games as a result before making a comeback in Gas’ 3-1 triumph against Cheltenham Town. Whoscored reports that Baggott scored Rovers’ second goal and struck the woodwork in a brilliant display of play after returning from injury.

The defender has started the last two League One games, winning 1-0 at Cambridge United and losing 2-0 at Peterborough, both with steady performances. Rovers manager Taylor was all praise for Baggott, who has impressed since his early problems at Stevenage two months ago, when he spoke to the Bristol Post following the team’s loss at Peterborough.

In his short time with us, he has proven to be a credit to both himself and his parent club. The way he has performed on top of everything else, including the way he has trained, behaved, and played.

It’s a prime illustration of a loan player who, throughout the first half of the season, played no meaningful or competitive football.

Furthermore, Taylor was frank about Baggott’s sluggish start to life at Memorial Stadium following his move from Ipswich. Despite this, the 42-year-old coach emphasised how the 21-year-old has benefited from being reintegrated into Bristol Rovers’ fold gradually.
