We take seriously the worries that the neighbourhood has expressed in the wake of the recent knife crime and severe violent incident in Bristol. It is for this reason that we have decided to grant our officials section 60 authority.

They’re all still under police arrest.

A portion of Bristol has been granted enhanced stop-and-search powers, which went into effect at 7 p.m. on Sunday and will initially last for 24 hours, according to the force.

On Sunday afternoon, Superintendent Lisa Simpson gave permission to exercise the authority under Sections 60 and 60AA of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act.

In order to stop serious violence, uniformed cops will have the authority to stop and search any person or vehicle inside a designated area for a weapon.

“We do not undervalue the concerns of the local community in light of this recent incident of knife crime and serious violence in Bristol,” Ms. Simpson stated.
