As Burnley looks to seal their Premier League survival, manager Vincent Kompany is adamant that his team has “always remained strong” in trying situations.
With just nine league games remaining in the season, the Clarets are currently five points outside of safety in second place in the table.

Before the international break, David Datro Fofana’s winner against 10-man Brentford gave Burnley their first Premier League victory in 11 attempts.

Kompany commended his team for “keeping the belief” throughout the season and acknowledged that there is no “good or bad time” for the break to occur.
He said at a news conference, “I don’t really think there’s a good or bad time. I think it’s good that we won the game, but it’s also really clear now that there’s nine games left.”

“We have a few games left before the season ends, so maybe it’s not the worst thing to build up that energy both physically and mentally before those games.” Now, our entire attention is on the upcoming games.

“We’ve always persevered through difficult times and maintained our faith, so I hope that suddenly hearing about your victory will inspire that.”

We’re not an emotionally volatile team, I believe, so I’m fairly sure that whether we win or lose, we can always get back on track. Right now, though, the focus is on winning.

Before hosting Wolves at home on Tuesday, Burnley will begin their fight for survival against Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.

Prior to the game on Saturday, Kompany stated that there are no new injury concerns; nevertheless, they would be missing Chelsea loanee Fofana.

Fortunately, nobody contracted anything while serving abroad,” he remarked.

“We had a little scare with one of the players, but ultimately, the international break was beneficial for us, and we can now look forward to the next match.

We have three games this week, so we will undoubtedly need to evaluate a few guys and make some judgements.

“(Fofana has) scored a lot of goals in a short amount of time, which is important for us, but he’ll be available for all these other games because we have another game on Tuesday and another game after that.”
