Cardiff City defender Jai Semenyo is ‘likely’ to leave this summer, according to WalesOnline.
Cardiff City could cut relations with the kid at the end of the season.

Semenyo, 20, is out of contract this summer and will become a free agent as things stand.

WalesOnline reports that he is unlikely to be offered new terms by the Championship club.

Cardiff signed Semenyo in 2021 after he impressed them on trial. His brother, Antoine, plays striker for AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League.

He had played in non-league for Mangotsfield Town before joining Cardiff City Stadium.

He has recently been a regular for the Bluebirds’ Under-21 side under Darren Purse, although he has yet to break into the first-team squad.

The potential made his first and only senior appearance for the Welsh club in an FA Cup match against Premier League heavyweights Liverpool in 2021.

Cutting ties with Semenyo in a few months would benefit all parties concerned. His chances of breaking into their starting XI in the future are poor, and finding a new home would allow him to play more often, which is exactly what he needs at this point in his career.

Cardiff return to action this weekend at home to Hull City, looking to build on their previous 2-1 triumph away at Coventry City.

Erol Bulut’s side is currently in 11th place in the table, and their chances of making the play-offs are all but gone. They are eight points behind the top six with six games left to play.

Nonetheless, they will be eager to finish this campaign on a good note as they prepare for the summer.
