Officially, the 16-year-old boy who was discovered dead in the River Eden is named as Mohammad Abdul Hamid, also known as Hamid, from Carlisle’s Barrock Street.
Officers from Cumbria Police are presently providing support to his family and friends.
His death’s circumstances are being looked upon.
Emergency services verified that on Sunday, July, at approximately 11:45 am, a corpse was discovered.
Following information that a youngster had entered the River Eden at Rickerby Park, the multi-agency operation started a search at approximately nine o’clock on Saturday night.
The North West Ambulance Service reported to Cumbria Police that they were concerned about the safety of a teenage boy.
Emergency crews responded on Saturday night and the search continued on Sunday morning.
The North West Ambulance Service, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard were also deployed in the operation.
Officers are asking the public to avoid the area to allow police and partners to carry out their investigations.
