A lady from Carlisle has been charged with trying to kill a man and a kid in the city earlier this week. She has appeared in court.
53-year-old Jacqueline Mounsey is accused of two crimes.
According to one, on June 10, she made an attempt to kill a guy in Carlisle. According to a second accusation, Mounsey also made an attempt on the same date to kill a female youngster, whose identity is unknown due to her age.
This morning, Mounsey was seen in the dock at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court.
Mounsey, escorted by a security guard, testified during a five-minute hearing at Whernside in the city to verify her identity, date of birth, and address.
She has not filed a plea to either of the accusations against her.
A synopsis of the accusations was given by the prosecutor.
Peter Conroy informed the magistrates that both the man and the child had sustained neck stab wounds.
The two counts Mounsey is facing are only indictable, meaning a judge at a crown court can only hear the case.
Judges postponed Mounsey’s case, and on June 24 she is scheduled to appear at Carlisle Crown Court for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Mounsey’s attorney, Mark Shepherd, did not request bail, therefore she remains in detention until her subsequent court date.
On June 10, shortly after 8am, there was a report of an incident at Whernside in Carlisle. Emergency services reacted to the claim.
After being admitted to the city’s Cumberland Infirmary with a stab wound, a man in his 50s was given a stable prognosis on Monday.
According to a force spokeswoman, a girl was carried with what seemed to be significant injuries to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
