Ange Postecoglou and Manchester United are reportedly in competition to capture a top Celtic prospect, according to a report published in the Daily Record this morning. The former Celtic manager, who departed the team just under a year ago, is hoping to forward his Tottenham makeover and might now take use of his familiarity with the calibre of the Celtic team.

And that would indicate that Daniel Kelly, whose current deal with Celtic expires at the end of the year, will soon make a move as he has not yet reached an agreement on a contract extension.

Although no deal has been agreed, Celtic has been in talks with Kelly’s and Rocco Vata’s representatives. The agreement with Vata ends at the end of this month.

In the second half of the season, Brendan Rodgers gave both players playing time, and they both scored their first goals at the senior level for the team. During the initial part of the season, a lot of summer project acquisitions needed to be assessed and given a chance, so the B Team players were essentially left out of first team lineups.

Ange Postecolgou would like his chances of landing a deal with the highly regarded midfield player, but Kelly has plenty of other options available to him. Manchester United is showing interest, and there is also interest from across the continent, including German Champions Bayer Leverkusen, Italian teams Bologna and newly promoted Como. Kelly is free to speak with potential suitors starting on July 1.
Daniel Kelly and Rocco Vata are said to have received a final offer from Celtic, but there has been no word on how that deal turned out. This situation has all the makings of another Ben Doak, and there’s little chance that the news in this case will be good.
