Although Daniel Kelly is reportedly eager to sign a new deal and remain at Celtic, wealthy teams may be keeping an eye on him and he could end up earning far more elsewhere.

Kelly made six appearances in all competitions in the 2023–24 season, marking her debut onto Brendan Rodgers’ squad.
His most memorable play occurred in a 7-1 triumph at Celtic Park against Dundee, when he stroked home a looping shot from the edge of the box.

He’s experienced what it’s like to put on a Celtics jersey, and Brendan Rodgers, a big fan, has been praising him recently. Captain Callum McGregor has praised his qualities as well.

Still, it might not be so simple to keep him in Glasgow given his contract expiring at the end of 2024.

According to The Daily Record, Kelly is eager to stay, but his Celtic contract offer is far less than what he could make elsewhere, especially when teams like Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are suddenly expressing interest in him.

The Scottish Champions are reportedly offering a wage that is three to four times lower than the £9,000 per week that cash-rich teams are prepared to give him.

It has been reported that Italian teams Bologna and Como are eager to find value in the Scottish market, while Bayern Leverkusen has made strong moves to sign him.

Kelly will soon have the freedom to speak with these teams, and should he choose to depart at the conclusion of his current deal, Celtic will only be owed £490,000 in training compensation.

Since Rodgers has made it apparent that he wants to use the Academy more as part of his larger plan for Celtic, he will be eager to stifle this desire and secure Kelly a new contract.

The midfielder, who is still only 18 years old, has the ability to contribute as a squad member next season, and the prospect of playing for the first team may be what keeps him around.
