Pre-season is about to begin, and Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers will take his time considering options within his team. The Bhoys play their first friendly of the season against Ayr United on Friday, and fans can hopefully witness some fringe talent in action at Somerset Park. One player who has been predicted to have an impact at Celtic this year is Republic of Ireland Under-21 international Bosun Lawal, who is returning to Parkhead after a fruitful loan at Fleetwood Town. According to Transfermarkt, the 21-year-old thrived south of the border in a newfound midfield role, recording six goals and two assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. This news has certainly excited Celtic supporters.

Lawal gave an explanation of what convinced him to transfer from Watford to Celtic when he first joined the team in 2021 during an interview with TRAINING121PODCAST.

“I got an offer for a professional (contract) at Watford, but I just wanted to try something,” he said. “I wanted to be stretched because I think I was too comfortable at that point.”A few other clubs opened up when Celtic arrived. Knowing how big Celtic is—I’m Irish—I immediately thought, “Yeah, I’m going to go to Celtic,” challenging myself to move again and experience a different town and culture. So, that’s exactly what I did—I moved to Celtic.”

Although it takes courage to make such a decision at the age of eighteen, Lawal’s decision may pay off because Brendan Rodgers is eager to give the Irishman the runaround throughout preseason.

A number of Sky Bet Championship teams have expressed interest in the Hoops’ abilities, including Portsmouth, Derby County, and Queens Park Rangers.

In any case, it seems that he will have an opportunity to make an impression prior to the upcoming season, which may allow Lawal to secure a midfield position for the upcoming campaign.
