The Scotland left-back was acquired from Arsenal for £10 million, and Celtic supporters have debated whether the Invincible Treble winner should make the move back to Paradise.

While Tierney is currently representing Steve Clarke’s team in the major competition in Germany while representing Scotland at the Euros, there is likely to be more rumours about him.

In sharp contrast to his current position in the first team at Arsenal, Tierney is expected to start for Clarke when Scotland takes against the host country in the opening game of Euro 2024 on Friday night.

The former Parkhead hero was questioned if he regretted moving to North London in 2019. He must find it frustrating to be a peripheral player at The Gunners after being a first-team regular at Celtic.

Tierney was ‘living the dream’ at Celtic

After a respectable first season in the Premier League, Tierney departed Celtic for Arsenal in 2019 for a club record £25 million. However, since the 2022–2023 season, he has experienced a decline in first-team status.

Undoubtedly, injuries have had an impact, but so has Oleksandr Zinchenko, whom Tierney found difficult to replace. [Transfermarkt]

Tierney is back at Arsenal and claims he has no regrets about his high-profile transfer, despite the fact that his season-long loan at Real Sociedad was cut short due to more injury issues.

Tierney stated, “I don’t regret it,” to [The Athletic]. Even though I knew life would never be the same, I still miss it.

“I was pursuing my passion.”

While playing for Celtic was the ultimate goal, being a football player is still the ideal. I left that behind to test my mettle against the finest in the Premier League and see how I would hold up.

Kieran Tierney on a possible ‘different’ return to Celtic

As I said previously, rumours linking Tierney to a return to Paradise have been ongoing all throughout last season.

Brendan Rodgers addressed Tierney’s Arsenal struggles at the start of the last SPFL campaign after summer rumours suggested a return to Celtic could be possible.

The Arsenal star has discussed what would be “different” if he were to come to Parkhead now that those speculations have risen once more.

“If I go back, I want to be feeling like I did there before,” Tierney said.

“Having been away for years, I’ll be a different player than I was, but I wouldn’t want to return if I wasn’t feeling completely at ease in my body.

“If I go back, it will be when I’m still feeling good because I understand the intensity and the demand to win.”

If Kieran Tierney were to return to Glasgow, he would undoubtedly improve the left-back position and provide Greg Taylor with much-needed competition.

It’s safe to say that most Celtic fans would be pleased to see Tierney back in the green and white Hoops, as his injury history and salary are the two biggest obstacles to any potential comeback.
