After being linked to the midfield player last summer, Celtic now have the chance to reconcile with their old coach and sign the former Real Madrid and Manchester United target for free.

This summer, Wilfred Ndidi, a free agent from Nigeria, will become available to Celtic, giving them the opportunity to pursue their long-standing interest in the former Leicester midfielder.

Due to his exceptional Premier League performances for the Foxes, Ndidi was once being linked to some of the top clubs in Europe. Leicester was thought to have valued him at £52 million back in 2021.

The midfield player left the team when his contract expired, seeking fresh pastures following a season in which he won the league title in the Championship.

Ndidi may choose to rejoin his former management in Glasgow; the Nigerian has drawn interest from the team since Brendan Rodgers returned to Celtic last summer.

Ndidi joined Leicester in 2017 after leaving Belgian team Genk, and during his four years as a player, he won the FA Cup while playing for the current Celtic manager.

“He’s obviously a player that’s got the good athletic ability and works very hard,” Rodgers said of Ndidi in an interview with the Leicester Mercury when he first joined the team following his first term as Celtic’s manager.
“I always have that kind of player—one who is obvious and in charge of the game. They can be a defensive player like him who can play simply and press the game, or they can be a more creative player who creates plays from behind the scenes.

“He has demonstrated incredible talent and accomplishments. He moves quickly across the earth. It’s crucial to have a player with that kind of anticipation since he scans the game and recognises danger.
Now that he’s back with the Bhoys, Rodgers can catch up with his former enforcer, who attracted a lot of attention when playing for Leicester under the Northern Irishman.
